Background: No study has documented the species composition of Nike fish (fam: Gobiidae) schools. The aim of this study is to document the species composition of the Nike-fish schooling. Methods: All samples were collected randomly from fisher’s catch during the fishing season on 5th–11th October 2018 at macrotidal area in Leato. Then, all specimens were identified morphologically by melanophore pattern differences. Subsequently, all identified-samples by melanophores pattern differences were sent to the genetic laboratory for identification. Results: The morphological results show there are five individuals with a different melanophores pattern. On the contrary, the genetic results only show four species from those five individuals. They are Sicyopterus pugnans, S. cynocephalus, Belobranchus segura, and Bunaka gyrinoides. Conclusions: Our findings show that there are only four species that compose the Nike fish schooling in Gorontao Bay. They are Sicyopterus pugnans, Sicyopterus cynocephalus, Belobranchus segura, and Bunaka gyrinoides.
Global warming is one of the environmental issues related to climate change. Coastal blue carbon ecosystems such as mangrove and seagrass have ability to combat global warming. Mangrove ecosystem has an important ecological function in efforts to mitigate global warming, by carbon storage. This study was done in Lansa Village mangrove forest and focused on mangrove leaf litter. The purpose of this study was to estimate carbon content in mangrove leaf litter. Leaf litter samples were collected by using a 1x1 m2 litter trap, which was made of black nylon with a mesh size of about 0.2 cm, 8 traps were put under mangrove trees canopy, with a height of 1.5 m above sea level or at the highest tide. The samples were taken and observed every 7 days. The samples were analyzed by using Dry-Ash Method. The results showed that the average litter production of gram wet weight (Gbb) and gram dry weight obtained during the study were 122.97 gbb m2/28 days, 4.39 gbb m2/28 days, 47.69 gbk m2/28 days, 1.83 gb m2/day. The average of mangrove leaf litter biomass is 30.12 g m2. The highest amount of carbon storage in mangrove litter was 19.30 gram C. The average value of the percentage of carbon content of all plots was 31.38% per day. Based on these results the estimated amount of carbon removal in mangrove leaves was 2.16 t C ha-1 y-1 or 337.18 t C y-1.and 1,237.45 t CO2 y-1.Ekosistem mangrove memiliki fungsi ekologis yang sangat penting dalam upaya mitigasi pemanasan global, yakni sebagai penyerap dan penyimpan karbon Hutan mangrove juga memiliki peran sebagai penyerap karbon dioksida (CO2) dari udara sehingga sangat berguna untuk mitigasi perubahan iklim. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untung mengestimasi kandungan karbon pada serasah daun mangrove di hutan mangrove Desa Lansa, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode litter trap yang berukuran 1x1 m2, yang terbuat dari nylon berwarna hitam dengan ukuran mata jaring (mesh size) sekitar 0,2 cm, sebanyak 8 buah dipasang di bawah kanopi pohon mangrove, dengan ketinggian 1,5 m di atas permukaan air laut atau pada pasang tertinggi untuk menampung jatuhnya serasah dan diamati setiap 7 hari. Hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata produksi serasah gram berat basah (Gbb) dan gram berat kering yang didapat selama penelitian, sebesar 122,97 gbb/m2/28hr, 4,39 gbb/m2/hr, 47,69 gbk/m2/28hr, 1,83 gbk/m2/hr. rata-rata biomassa serasah daun mangrove sebesar 41,07. Jumlah simpanan karbon tertinggi pada serasah mangrove sebesar 19,30 gram C. Nilai rata-rata persentase kandungan karbon dari semua plot adalah sebesar 31,38% per hari, berdasarkan hasil penelitian jumlah estimasi kandungan karbon yang tersimpan pada serasah daun mangrove 2,16 ton/ha/tahun.
Indonesia is referred to as the second largest contributor of marine plastic waste in the world after China, with an estimated 0.48-1.29 million metric tons per year (Jambeck et al, 2015). The main problem today is the lack of information about pollution of marine debris on the coast, especially in North Sulawesi. This study aims to identify the type of marine debris on Tasik Ria Beach using the transect line observation method. Observation of marine debris was carried out 5 times with a total of 10 transects between February and April 2019. Data analysis was carried out using several software namely Microsoft Excel, Statgraphics, and JMP. The analysis technique used is EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) with GDA (Graphical Data Analysis) as the main approach. Of the various types of debris obtained, plastic debris is the most commonly found, as many as 189 items, followed by glass 97 items, wood and derivatives of 11 items, rubber 5 items and clothes 2 items. Based on the results of the study, the type of macro debris is the most common category of debris at the study site. The total number of macro-debris collected in ten observation transects was 316 items with a total weight of 118.62 gr/m2, while meso-debris had only 6 items with a total weight of 7.18 gr/m2. The percentage of macro-debris composition found on Tasik Ria beach is plastic (58.15%), glass (29.85%), metal (6.52%), wood and derivatives (3.42%), rubber (1, 55%) and clothes (0.62%). These results can illustrate the potential for events where plastic is the dominant component of marine debris on the coast, specifically in the District of Tombariri, Minahasa Regency.Keywords: Marine debris, Macro-debris, Category, Composition, Tasik Ria ABSTRAKIndonesia disebut sebagai kontributor sampah plastik ke laut terbesar kedua di dunia setelah Tiongkok, dengan estimasi 0,48-1,29 juta metrik ton per tahun (Jambeck et al, 2015). Adapun tehnik analisis yang digunakan adalah EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) dengan pendekatan utama yaitu, GDA (Graphical Data Analysis). Dari berbagai semua jenis sampah yang didapatkan, sampah plastik merupakan yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu sebanyak 189 item, diikuti kaca 97 item, kayu dan turunannya 11 item, karet 5 item dan terakhir pakaian 2 item. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, jenis sampah makro merupakan ukuran sampah yang paling banyak ditemukan di lokasi penelitian. Jumlah total makro-debris yang dikumpulkan di sepuluh transek pengamatan adalah sebanyak 316 item dengan bobot total 118,62 gr/m2, sedangkan meso-debris hanya terdapat 6 item dengan bobot total 7,18 gr/m2. Persentase komposisi makro-debris yang terdapat di pantai Tasik Ria adalah plastik (58,15%), kaca (29,85%), logam (6,52%), kayu dan turunannya (3,42%), karet (1,55%) dan pakaian (0,62%). Hasil ini dapat menggambarkan potensi kejadian dimana plastik menjadi komponen sampah laut dominan di pantai, secara khusus di Kecamatan Tombariri, Kabupaten Minahasa.Kata kunci: Sampah laut, Makro-debris, Jenis, Komposisi, Tasik-Ria
Abstrak. Setiap orang memiliki kegiatan dan aktivitas yang berbeda-beda, setiap aktivitas dan kegiatan seseorang pasti memiliki resikonya masing-masing. Mengingat dalam proses penyembuhan luka membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk proses penyebuhannya maka dibutuhkan penanganan yang baik, serta alternatif pengobatan yang mungkin bisa membantu mempercepat pemulihan kesehatan tubuh dalam hal penyembuhan luka, yang disebabkan trauma oleh benda tajam atau benda tumpul yang membuat bagian tubuh terluka. Ikan merupakan bahan pangan dengan nilai gizi tinggi karena kandungan mineral, vitamin, lemak dan proteinnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat pengaruh pemberian puding dengan ekstrak ikan family Channidae pada proses penyembuhan luka tikus putih (Rattus novergicus). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperiment dengan tiga perlakuan. Dari penelitian yang sudah dilaksanakan bahwa pudding ikan dengan penambahan ekstrak ikan toman dan ikan gabus memberikan pengaruh dalam percepatan penyembuhan luka pada hewan uji tikus.Abstract. Everyone has different activities with different risks and often gets injured. Since wound healing process takes time, better handling and alternative medicinal administration are needed to accelerate the health recovery from trauma caused either by sharp or hard materials. Fish are high nutritive food enriched with minerals, fat, and protein. This study was intended to know the effect of snakehead fish extract on the healing process of white rat (Rattus novergicus). It applied an experimental method with 3 treatments. Results showed that fish pudding added with the snakehead fish extract gave good effect on the acceleration of wound healing process in the white rat.
