The relationship between politics and administration has evolved over a fairly long period of time. But with time the complexities of the governmental functions increased and the concentration of politicians, administrators and academicians started over the separation and relationship between the administration and politics. The study of relationship between politics and administration became a very important aspect to define an identity in the field of public administration. The present study based on the primary data attempts to examine the role perception of politicians and administrators at the district level in Himachal Pradesh.
With a view to enhance the nutritional levels among children and improve enrollment, retention and attendance, the National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education ( NP-NSPE) was launched as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on 15th August 1995. Later, it came to be known as Mid-day Meal Scheme-a country-wide programme aimed at, besides these objectives, protecting children from classroom hunger and an improved socialisation among children belonging to all castes, addressing social empowerment through provision of employment to women. This article is an attempt to assess the impact of this scheme on school attendance and retention levels.
The Indian society has traditionally been biased against the social progress among women. Although they play an active and sometimes even equal role in the agricultural and other rural livelihood vocations yet their educational, social and economic status is not a matter of concern. These inequalities get magnified by the other prevalent factors in our social fabric, based on caste, community and class which have a significant impact on the abysmal status of women in different spheres. Therefore, the main issue to ponder today revolves round the kind of strategy required for improving the status of women and widen their participation in the process of development.
The women constitute half of the society. The feudal attitudes of looking down upon the abilities of women and not promoting them is still continuing in different degrees at various levels of our society. Present article is an attempt to analyse the situation of women representation in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PR/s) in•Himachal Pradesh. With the increasing violence against women in our society, it becomes necessary to find out the problems of our society regarding women and give valuable suggestions to deal with the problem. To give the representation to the women in local self-government is also a step to move forward in the direction of women empowerment. Our society cannot run without women. A woman plays several roles like mother, wife, sister, and daughter in our society. Therefore, it is the duty of everyone to respect them equally.
