Sludge from the washing process of natural aggregate was used as the raw material for the production of dry pressed ceramic bodies. After fast firing at temperatures of 10001090°C with a 10-min soaking time, bodies based on waste sludge show considerably lower porosity (water absorption; bulk density), higher bending strength and better pore size distribution with respect to frost resistance than similar compared bodies based on spray granulate used for the production of dry pressed ceramic tiles.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
