Seven different in vitro methods to determine the protein digestibility for chickpea proteins were considered and also the application of these methodologies for calculating PDCAAS (protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score), seeking their correlations with the in vivo methodology. In vitro digestibility of raw and heated samples were determined using pepsin-pancreatin hydrolysis, considering soluble nitrogen via Kjeldahl (ppKJ) and hydrolysed peptide linkages using trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid and o-phthaldialdehyde. In vitro digestibility was also determined using trypsin, chymotrypsin and peptidase (3-Enz) or trypsin, chymotrypsin, peptidase and pronase solution (4-Enz). None of the correlations between in vitro and in vivo digestibilities were significant (at p<0.0500), but, strong correlations were observed between PDCAAS calculated by in vitro and in vivo results. PDCAAS-ppKJ, PDCAAS-3-Enz and PDCAAS-4-Enz presented the highest correlations with in vivo method, r=0.9316, 0.9442 and 0.9649 (p<0.0500), respectively. The use of in vitro methods for calculating PDCAAS may be promising and deserves more discussions.
Objective: To evaluate the capacity of Primary Healthcare to coordinate healthcare networks. Method: A cross-sectional, population-based and descriptive study developed in the State of Minas Gerais through interviews with nurses working in the Family Health Strategy Sector (FHS) of the Unified Health System, using the Network Coordination Assessment Tool for Primary Healthcare. A descriptive statistical analysis was applied by implementing Fisher’s exact test, Spearman’s correlation coefficient and cluster analysis. Type I error was fixed at 5% for statistical significance. Results: There were 49 nurses interviewed, evaluating the population and primary healthcare dimensions as excellent. Support, logistical, governance and overall assessment systems were classified as having good condition in the network coordination for Primary Healthcare. The dendograms showed that the work process has similarities between Nurses, as well as the structure between the municipalities. Conclusion: Primary Healthcare has the ability to coordinate networks, constituting a process in which nurses have a central role. There were similarities in the work processes between evaluated municipalities and a deficit in information and pharmaceutical assistance systems.
Demographic transition and interest in human longevity increasingly guide studies on the best quality of the human diet, a factor directly related to the lifespan. As the world's population is aging, with more people over 65, dietary recommendations specific to this context should be discussed and adopted. Proteins are related to this theme both for their fundamental role as nutrients, but also as nutraceutical potentials that act not only for the maintenance of health, but for the prolongation of life. Thus, there is also a growing interest in research on the effects of ingestion of peptides with different bioactivities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
