Nowadays, English has become one of the subjects that must be mastered. Thus, English learning should be done from an early age. This research aimed to describe how Total Physical Response (TPR) method can improve English vocabulary achievement in 5-6 years old children. TPR is the language learning approach which stimulates the children in acquiring their mother language which implemented in teaching foreign languages. The samples of this research were 5-6 years students of TK (Kindergarten) An-Nisa, Rokan Hilir, Riau Province, Indonesia with the total samples 15 students. This research used qualitative research. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, analyzing the scores of English vocabularies. The results showed that noun categories had the highest percentage in vocabulary acquisition (97.78 %), then followed by verbs (86.67 %) and adjectives (62.22 %). Meanwhile, the percentages of vocabularies that used by children were verbs (24.44 %), nouns (11.11 %), while the children were still not capable in using adjectives (0 %). The results of this research is expected to contribute to the development of English learning for young learners.
Kata Kunci: kreativitas, keterampilan proses sains, pembelajaran, aktivitas kehidupan DEVELOPING CREATIVITY OF THE SCIENCE PROCESS SKILL IN THE ORGANISM LIFE ASPECT IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCIENCEAbstract: This research is aimed to know how far the development of creativity of science process skills in the life aspect through the science subject in elementary schools in DIY. The data were collected through a survey by employing a group sampling technique after the areas had been determined by the Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) of the education office which represented the city and suburb areas. The results of the survey which involved 400 elementary school teachers of grades IV and V as well as 1200 students from 10 UPT of 5 different regencies/municipalities in DIY show that almost all teachers stated the importance of developing creativity of the science process skill in the life aspect for the students. They hardly ever or seldom taught without giving examples. They often taught by giving examples. There was no teacher who stated that they had ever joined a training to develop the students' creativity.
A tray dryer using source of energy from biomass and solar was developed to dry sorghum crackers. In this dryer, solar dryer was combined with a heating system of drying air through pipes above the furnace while cooking sorghum stem's juice. This research investigated drying characteristics of sorghum crackers using the dryer in various drying air velocities. This drying air velocity was conducted at 0.0176; 0.0194 and 0.0272m 3 /s. The higher drying air velocity blown into the dryer through pipes above the furnace, the lower temperature of drying air. There is a little different of drying air and crackers temperature in each tray. Sorghum crackers were dried from 186.78% d.b. to approximately 13.88% d.b. The mechanism of drying consists of constant rate period and falling rate period. The constant value during constant rate period in each drying air velocity was 0.0109; 0.0102 and 0.0098%/s while during falling rate period velocity was 0.0085; 0.0089 and 0.0085%/s. The drying air velocity affected constant value during constant period significantly. These models were valid to predict moisture content during drying and describe the drying process in the dryer.
