Objective: To describe the prevalence and factors associated with pressure injuries related to the use of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted using an instrument made available in social networks with 1,106 health professionals. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and compared, considering pvalue < 0.05. Results: There was a prevalence of 69.4% for pressure injuries related to the use of personal protective equipment, with an average of 2.4 injuries per professional. The significant factors were: under 35 years of age, working and wearing personal protective equipment for more than six hours a day, in hospital units, and without the use of inputs for protection. Conclusion: Pressure injuries related to the use of medical devices showed a high prevalence in this population. The recognition of the damage in these professionals makes it possible to advance in prevention strategies.
Objective: To characterize the clinical and sociodemographic profile of people with venous ulcers followed up in a specialize outpatient clinic of a university hospital. Method: documentary study carried out in a general surgery outpatient clinic of a university hospital. 104 instruments applied in the first nursing consultation were reviewed. Results: there was a predominance of females, with a mean age of 54 years. The majority did not perform paid work, the wound being the reason for leaving work activities. Systemic arterial hypertension and obesity were the most prevalent comorbidities. The person with venous ulcer was the main person involved in direct care of the wound. Conclusion: the profile of the study population is compatible with other studies in different contexts in Brazil. The results allow a reflection on the assistance provided and the effectiveness of the implemented interventions.
OBJETIVO: Identificar os saberes e as dificuldades encontradas por familiares no cuidado à pessoa com úlcera venosa no âmbito domiciliar. METODOLOGIA: Estudo descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa, realizado em Fortaleza/CE, Brasil, em 2019, com oito familiares de pessoas com úlcera venosa, acompanhadas em ambulatório especializado de hospital público de ensino. Realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas, cujas falas foram submetidas à análise de conteúdo temática proposta por Bardin. RESULTADOS: A partir da análise das falas, surgiram três categorias temáticas: Saberes dos familiares no cuidado à úlcera venosa; Necessidade da orientação para manutenção do cuidado no domicílio; e Influência da úlcera venosa na dinâmica familiar. CONCLUSÃO: A identificação das lacunas no conhecimento dos entrevistados foi de grande relevância para o planejamento de tecnologia educativa voltada às necessidades encontradas, de maneira a oferecer suporte e alento a esse público.
Objective: Characterize the clinical and surgical profile of children undergoing cardiac surgery who developed surgical site infection in a public hospital in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará. Methods: Descriptive research with a quantitative approach, developed in a pediatric cardiology unit, with data collected from April to June 2018. The study sample consisted of 26 children with surgical wound infection in the year 2017. Results: There were none gender prevalence; the weight range varied from 3 to 6 kg (42.3%) and neonates had a prevalence of 38%. Corrective surgeries represented 88% of the total; the surgical time varied from 2 to 6 hours (38%); 70% of the children were submitted to cardiopulmonary bypass with the predominant time of 90 to 120 minutes (27%); the diagnosis of infection was made between 4 and 6 days after the procedure. There was prophylactic antibiotic coverage in 88% and skin preparation in 92% of children. Conclusion: Characterizing the clinical-surgical profile of children undergoing cardiac surgery becomes essential for decision-making in the care processes of nurses, emphasizing the findings as a basis for the development of strategies for the prevention of surgical site infection in this clientele.
Objective: to characterize the socioeconomic and clinical-epidemiological profile of people attended in an outpatient clinic specialized in complex wounds. Methods: cross-sectional study with 69 people with wounds, through the application of a questionnaire. Data analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: most participants were male (55.1%), above 60 years old (55.1%), married (40.6%), income from one to three minimum wages (69.6%). Regarding clinical aspects, 50 (72.4%) had the injury for more than six months, 32 (46.4%) had a relative responsible wound dressing, 44 (63.8%) did not have difficulties in wound dressing. Regarding how long they had the wound, pain and arterial disease were statistically significant (p=0.042; p=0.026). Conclusion: most participants were male and above 60 years old. Pain and the presence of arterial diseases were significant with regards to people with chronic wounds.
