Medical students often participate in educational activities in other countries, where they volunteer at a local elderly residency or gain valuable experience in a clinical rotation. These experiences contribute to their service in multicultural communities. The pandemic translated to a lack of cross-cultural experience, a critical problem that needed to be solved. The approach needed to change to offer these valuable experiences, from travelling abroad to being part of a multicultural experience even if sitting at home. The remote interactions of
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
