A large signal voltage stability index is proposed in this study. Although the study focuses on a wind farm connected system, the index can predict instability of any power system. The index gives an idea about the stability margin of the power system under a given operating condition and can be used to predict emergency situations following a large disturbance such as line outage. The proposed index can be used effectively for systems with static as well as dynamic loads. The proposed index is verified in standard test systems. Matrix perturbation theory is used to verify the viability of the index.
In this paper, the interconnection of islanded DC microgrids are discussed. The interconnection increases the power supply reliability since a power shortfall in one of the microgrids can be supplied by the others. The islanded DC microgrids are interconnected through a bi-directional DC-DC converter. A high frequency transformer isolation is used in the converter. For interconnecting more than two microgrids, a multiple winding transformer is used. The interconnected system is studied for both equal and unequal capacity DC microgrids. A detail description of the interconnection technique is provided with simulation results and illustrations.
In this work, the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), rotor side converter (RSC) is controlled to regulate its reactive power output. A brief comparative study has been carried out between two different RSG control techniques, based on their ability to restore voltage stability of a power system. From this study the better DFIG-RSC control strategy has been identified. The results are tested in IEEE-14 bus system and simulated in MATLAB.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
