This chapter discusses how an approach to evidence-based health tourism product development can be used to effectively position tourism destinations. It puts forward an integrated conceptual model of natural resource-based health tourism product development based on examples of good practice that, it is argued, could act as a conceptual framework for developing future evidence-based health tourism products. The chapter first presents a review of the literature supporting the need for such a model. It then describes the case studies that allowed for the model to be created, namely the 'Hohe Tauern Health' and 'Alpine Health Region Salzburg'. Finally, it offers some conclusions on the role evidence-based health tourism products can play in the sustainable development of destinations.
