A case study approach was adopted to identify the innovative food safety strategies in place at one pioneering hotel that had voluntarily implemented food safety control. An investigation of food safety strategies and the reasons for their implementation in the hotel foodservice were carried out using multiple sources of data, including interviews with key decision makers in the hotel, observations of the business environment, and a review of documentation. The findings suggest that not only food control strategies but also marketing and corporate strategies are important when addressing the problems of food safety. The findings of this study also demonstrate the relationship between motivating factors and food safety strategies. Analysis of the interviews indicates that a hotel's food safety strategies depend significantly on the attitude of senior management, the firm's capability, and corporate image.
This study examines the relationship among family supportive culture, organizational attachment, and work-life segmentation in high-tech service industry in Taiwan, China. Using survey data from 369 professionals, this study shows that family supportive culture has significant influence on organizational attachment, namely, affective commitment. Results indicate that individuals' work-life segmentation has a significant negative effect on organizational attachment. Meanwhile, our results further apply employees' segmentation between work and life as a moderator to investigating the impact of individual's perceptions of family supportive culture and values on a sense of attachment toward organizations. The result illustrates that work-life 80 Ting Wu, Jingfeng Uen, Suling Wu, Tzujung Chang segmentation does not moderate the relationship between supportive family culture and employees' organizational attachment. Findings from this research provide insights into the influence of organizational family supportive culture and how it may further encourage employees' organizational attachment in high-tech industry in Taiwan.
There are more than one million festivals regularly held every year around the world. They not only create enormous economic benefits, but have also become a new global industry. Festival activities can attract many visitors and enhance regional development in a short time. The festival is an important trend to develop tourism. In Taiwan and foreign countries, various types of festivals are frequently held to draw the visitors' attention or increase economic benefits. Therefore, the method to hold successful festivals is an important issue for different countries. In order to construct the standard to select festival planners, this study conducts expert interviews and questionnaire survey by literature review and the Modified Delphi Method in order to confirm the hierarchical framework and evaluation criteria. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is conducted to determine the weights of criteria in the hierarchical framework. The findings can serve as reference to select festival planners, thereby increasing the effectiveness of festivals and helping the decision-making of selection.
