TACE is a promising procedure in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma with PV thrombosis. Response to chemoembolization, ascites and Child-Pugh class were the most important determining factors of survival.
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common and serious condition, and if not diagnosed timely may lead to the death of the patient. Imaging plays a major role in the diagnosis of the PE. Since the past decade multi-detector computed tomographic pulmonary angiography is playing a major role in the diagnosis of PE due to its high accuracy. PE may be acute or chronic. PE may cause complete or partial obstruction of the pulmonary arteries. In acute PE, complete obstruction of the segmental and subsegmental branches of pulmonary artery causes enlargement of the vessel. Completely obstructed segmental and subsegmental vessels are smaller in size in the chronic PE. Chronic PE may also lead to the poststenotic dilatation of the obstructed vessel and development of the systemic collateral vessels. Multi-detector computed tomographic pulmonary angiography may be used to assess the clot resolution and severity of the PE.
Amoebic liver abscess is most common extra-intestinal presentation of amoebiasis. It is rarely complicated with vascular involvement including thrombosis of hepatic vein or IVC and pseudo-aneurysm of hepatic artery. We describe a case of hepatic artery pseudo-aneurysm as a complication of amoebic liver abscess treated with percutaneous embolization. ( J CLIN EXP HEPATOL 2015;5:86-88) A moebiasis is the infection of the human gastrointestinal tract by Entamoeba histolytica and its incidence is less than 10% in the world population.
11It remains unclear if Phe was limiting in the Control ration or if RP Phe was not fed at high enough levels to have a measurable response on production. However, it is clear that AA limitations, requirements and production responses are governed by much more than plasma AA levels. Results further suggest that AA are bioactive metabolites to the extent that they can change animal performance, even when they are not "limiting" per se, and that their supplementation to practical dairy cattle diets should be approached with extreme caution for this reason.
Chemoembolization was an effective and safe treatment in Child A and early Child B patients. Factors that had adverse effect on survival were Child class B, larger tumor size, presence of portal vein thrombosis and metastasis, and high baseline alpha-fetoprotein levels.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
