The paper has attempted to examine a critical link between the strategic human resource management and crisis management. In this, the authors have taken a major drive to statistically test mediation and moderation simultaneously. Drawing upon the normal accident theory, the present study examined the link between strategic human resource management (SHRM) and crisis management through the mediation of organizational resilience. By adopting quantitative research approach, the data were collected from 176 HR managers of textile firms in Pakistan through survey method. The data were analysed by employing PLS-SEM technique. Results revealed that SHRM is positively linked with crisis management through the mediating effect of organizational resilience. In general, the results revealed that organizational resilience plays a key role in facilitating the relationship between SHRM and crisis management. The paper forwards notable implications for theory and practice followed by scope for future studies to enthusiastic scholars in the domain of HRM, strategic HRM and crisis management.
This study aims to determine the impact of investment behavior on financial markets during COVID-19 with respect to the UK. This study is quantitative, where the data has been gathered from the primary sources of information, i.e., through a survey questionnaire. The researcher adopted the non-probability convenience sampling through which 337 responses were gathered. The questionnaire was self-administered, which was based on 7 points Likert scale. Concerning the analysis, the SEM technique has been adopted in which CFA and path analysis were carried out to determine the impact of variables. The study's analysis determined significant moderation of COVID-19 uncertainty over the relationship of risk perception and general risk to tolerance. Similarly, the moderation of COVID-19 uncertainty over the relationship of risk perception and financial risk to tolerance was also determined. Additionally, the profitability rate's effect was determined by the financial risk tolerance and general risk tolerance. Moreover, the effect of risk perception was also determined over the financial risk to tolerance. Lastly, the effect of satisfaction was determined to be significant over the general risk to tolerance.
The aim of this study is to find the employment options and career choices of young people in a developing country, Pakistan. In this regard, an exploratory approach is used to conduct this study. The findings of the study show that there are formal and informal options for the youth to choose occupations. Formal includes the employment opportunities provided by the government which include in the long term and short term in their services; however, informal employment includes different kinds of work in the different sectors. Overseas employment is the external option of the career choice for the youth. However, a business incubation center is an internal source of career for university students and graduates who want to opt for entrepreneurship as their career choice. This study provides implications for the government and non-government organizations to create different kinds of employment opportunities to accommodate the huge youth population and make them productive for the economic development of the country and reduce the rate of unemployment.
The Present study empirically examines the impact of perfectionist striving on active behavior and task performance. Work motivation used as a mediating mechanism and basic psychological needs employed as a moderator between perfectionist striving and workplace behaviors. It’s a moderated mediating study because of the interest of knowing the conditional nature of mediating variable. Self-determination theory has been employed as theoretical background of these relationships in order to have full and thorough understanding of the link from perfection to performance. Data were collected from 220 subordinates-supervisor matching dyads of engineers from different organizations of Pakistan using convenient sampling technique. Exploratory factor analysis and hierarchical regression used to check the direct relationships. Indirect macro used for mediating relations and process macro used for moderating relation of the study. Results supported the positive association of perfectionist striving with task performance and proactive behaviour. Furthermore, results also supported the mediating effect of work motivation. However, results could not predict the moderating role of basic psychological needs. Moreover, findings of present research bring an important implications for organizations to consider perfectionism as positive attitude because it relates to adaptive outcome and positive work behaviours such as performance.
Producing something from low or nothing through entrepreneurial bricolage is an increasing phenomenon in emerging and dynamic markets. Recently, there is a dire need in developing affordable products and services targeting new markets. Entrepreneurs in the limited resources environments often develop such products. As suggested by Baker and Nelson, firms engage in bricolage to overcome the limitations imposed by the limited resources situation. With respect to the current situation, resource limitations and sustainability issues are pushing firms to develop affordable, quality products and services.
