The problem of optimal recovery is that of approximating as effectively as possible a given map of any function known to belong to a certain class from limited, and possibly error-contaminated, information about it. In this selective survey we describe some general results and give many examples of optimal recovery. C. A. Micchelli et al. (eds.), Optimal Estimation in Approximation Theory
Methods for computing th e maximum and minimum of a polynomial with real coefficients in the inte rval [0 , 1] are de scribed, and certain bounds are given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
