A simple analytic method to correct the experimentally observed spin-flip and non-spin-flip scattering cross sections in neutron polarization analysis experiments for the effects of multiple scattering is presented. From known parameters of the constituent elements of a specimen and from the measured experimental cross sections the single scattering cross sections can readily be determined. This is particularly useful in situations where the scattering is isotropic or exhibits only slight angular dependence.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
