A simple algebraic method stemming from ideas in minimal state‐variable realization theory is developed for the synthesis of two‐variable reactance matrices. The method rests mainly on the factorization of a one variable polynomial matrix which is para‐Hermitian and positive semidefinite on the imaginary axis, and always yields a realization minimal in both variables.
The advantages of digital loop carrier systems operating on wire pairs can be enhanced by the use of lightguides in place of wire pairs. Lightwave systems can provide wide bandwidth capability, small cable size, long‐range repeater‐less operation, and immunity to electromagnetic interferences. This article describes the development of a 1.3‐μm LED/PIN based system designed specifically for the loop environment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
