A successive approximation technique that is based on the conventional line-by-line-addressing is proposed. A large number of gray shades can be displayed without flicker by using low-cost liquid crystal display drivers that are designed to drive the pixels to either ON or OFF states in bilevel displays.
Abstract-Power consumption in liquid-crystal displays is analyzed by including frequent polarity reversals and duty-cycle control. A multistep voltage profile is proposed to reduce the power consumption of multiplexed and nonmultiplexed displays. The authors have also shown that the reduction in the power consumption can be achieved with a minimal increase in hardware complexity of the drive electronics.
A technique that relies on integer wavelets to deliver energy to pixels and display gray shades in rms responding matrix displays is proposed. A large number of gray shades can be displayed without flicker using simple addressing waveforms with a few voltage levels.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
