This social work aimed to improve: (1) partner’s knowledge kitchen washing place and drainage (2) partner’s skill to kitchen washing place and drainage and (3) the skill to make kitchen washing place and drainage. The methods that used of this social work were : (1) to improve the knowledge of people about the kitchen washing place and drainage of stilt house then the discourse, interactive and discussion method are conducted, (2) to improve their skill to design the kitchen washing place and drainage then methods discourse, interactive, discussion, and demonstration are conducted and (3) to improve the skill to make the kitchen washing place and drainage then discourse, interactive, discussion, demonstration, and training methods are conducted. The results of social work, (1) the people was highly motivated to follow these activities; (2) the material of workshop was responded by people because of kitchen washing place and drainage of stilt house was easy to be made and the compound could be gained in workshop location; (3) kitchen washing place and drainage of stilt house could be accepted, understood, and followed by people technically; (4) the people were ready to make their own kitchen washing place and drainage construction in their house and inform to others.
Rice husk waste is very much produced because Indonesia is an agricultural country. This waste is freely burned around the factory and produces ash. This study used rice husk ash as an additive in bricks. This research aims to describe: (1) the compressive strength of brick with various percentages of RHA (0% - 15%), (2) the water absorption of brick with various percentages of RHA (0% - 15%), and (3) quality level of compressive strength and water absorption based on Indonesian Standard SNI 15-2094-2000. The methods are: (1) preparation of clay and rice husk ash, (2) produce brick with different percentages of RHA, (3) Drying with direct sunlight and furnacing with rice husk on an industrial site, (4) examining compressive strength and water absorption, and(5) analyzing data to find out compressive strength and water absorption, and quality of brick. The results showed that the use of RHA added to bricks caused a decrease in compressive strength. Meanwhile, the water absorption value of the bricks increases significantly. The RHA brick did not meet the requirements based on the compressive strength. However, according to water absorption, 5% RHA and 10% RHA meet the requirements.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
