We review the idea of generating non-extensive stationary distributions based on abstract composition rules of the subsystem energies, in particular the parton cascade method, using a Boltzmann equation with relativistic kinematics and modified two-body energy composition rules. The thermodynamical behavior of such model systems is investigated. As an application hadronic spectra with power-law tails are analyzed in the framework of a quark coalescence model. We review recent results from studies of the dynamics of classical Yang-Mills fields on a lattice. We discuss the numerical techniques employed in solving the classical lattice Yang-Mills equations in real time, and present results exhibiting the universal chaotic behavior of nonabelian gauge theories. The complete spectrum of Lyapunov exponents is determined for the gauge group SU(2).We survey results obtained for the SU(3) gauge theory and other nonlinear field theories. We also discuss the relevance of these results to the problem of thermalization in gauge theories.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
