Luminescence during the cathodization of silicon and other materials was observed. In the cathodization of silicon in 0.04N KNOJethylene glycol, the luminescence was found only when the oxide film was thin. It was observed that the cathodization of silicon resulted in removal of the oxide film. However, in the presence of water, the luminescence occurred without any requiremen.t of an oxide layer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
