HighlightsNotwithstanding the fact that giant lipomas in the inguinal region are considered a rare pathology, it is the one that doctors should remember of, especially when inguinal hernia is being diagnosed.Otherwise, in case of false diagnosis, wrong treatment strategy may lead to the development of serious iatrogenic complications.In view of such circumstances, the presence of a slightest doubt about the diagnosis of “inguinal hernia,” the range of traditional examinations should be expanded by involving CT or MRI.
HighlightsDiagnosing of retroperitoneal organized hematoma in the early stages is not always possible, because exploration of retroperitoneal space can be difficult, especially in patients with obesity or flatulence.On our opinion, taking into account location and structure of tumors, laparoscopic intervention was not appropriate, open surgery was reasonable approach. Preoperative biopsy has a crucial role to set preliminary diagnosis.Despite the fact that organized retroperitoneal hematomas are quite rare, their diagnosis requires detailed examination and histological verification.
