We report the infection efficiency and genetic diversity of three different viruses, cnidium yellowing vein virus (CnVYV), cnidium virus X (CnVX), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), which are associated with yellowing and mosaic symptoms in Cnidium officinale plants in Iwate and Hokkaido, Japan. The rate of viral infection is extremely high and we found that all collected samples were infected with CnVYV. Phylogenetic analysis using coat protein (CP) sequences suggested that these three viral species had infected before or just after the cnidium plants were introduced in Japan.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
