Magnetic susceptibility measurements of Fe 3 O 4 have been performed under high pressure up to 15 GPa in the temperature range of 10-300K in order to study the mechanism of the Verwey transition. A diamond anvil cell (DAC) is used with fluid as a pressure transmitting medium. The pressure dependence of T V , at which the magnetic susceptibility changes suddenly, has been obtained. T V decreases and becomes sluggish above 7 GPa. The pressure dependence of T V is similar to that revealed by Todo's results obtained by electrical resistivity measurements using a cubic anvil device. In this study, the electrical resistivity measurements are also performed using the DAC up to 20 GPa.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
