Trisodium rubidium heptamagnesium hexakis(orthophosphate) exhibits a new structure type, with MgOx (x = 5 and 6) polyhedra linked directly to each other through common corners or edges and reinforced by corner-sharing with PO4 tetrahedra. The resulting anionic three-dimensional framework leads to the formation of channels in which the Na+ cations are located, while the Rb+ cations are located in large interstitial cavities.
We have investigated the crystal structure of the synthetic analogue of the mineral iwateite using powder diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Na2BaMn(PO4)2 crystallizes in the space group P$‾{3}$m1 (No. 164) with cell parameters a = 5.37292(1) Å, and c = 7.09538(1) Å (Rwp = 5.7%, V = 177.38 Å3, Z = 1). The space group assignment is supported by the experimentally observed 11 Raman active modes which agree with the expected number of modes for the P$‾{3}$m1 symmetry.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
