We describe a highly sensitive and stable QCL-based attenuated total reflection terahertz sensor for the detection of very low concentration solutions, using a dual modulation differential approach and ATR geometry. This sensor offers a very high dynamic range and a long-term stability of 40 dB, which extends the potential of terahertz radiation for the analysis of liquid and biological samples. The performance is illustrated by measurements on standard solutions of ions, sugars and proteins, for concentrations down to 1 μM.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
