The invention of a number of interesting magnetic bubble domain devices over the past eighteen years, for computer memory, data-flow data processing and optical image processing, has brought many new and interesting problems to the attention of physicists. These problems, in materials, particularly crystal growth, in magnetic domain dynamics, in the physics of ion implantation, in complex magnetic field calculations and in magneto-optics are reviewed and discussed. It is concluded that we have here a particularly significant example of the interaction between technology and science.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
