The technogenes, central objects of study in this research, are modifications caused by anthropic activities in the geological and geomorphological environments, like: dams, landfills and excavations, that started to replicate extremely fast and in global scale. Therefore, these modifications can become the stratigraphic signatures from a new geological period, the Anthropocene (Quinary/Technogene), still not formalized. The relations between those elements, the many different anthropics activities, the risks and the socioenvironmental conflicts expose the sociological bias of this study. And this bias "degeologizes" the technogene, and puts him, as well, as an object of study of human sciences. From this perspective, the general objective of this research was defined: to propose a socioenvironmental classification for the technogenes, associating them to the risk and capacity of environmental support. And to reach this central objective, three specific objectives were defined: 1) characterize a new geological period that presents itself intrinsically related to environmental risk: the Anthropo(?)cene. Bring some reflections: is the formalization really necessary? With what support? 2) Contextualize the main anthropic activities that generate technogenes associated to risk, within the globalization process and 3) discuss the risk, environmental and intergenerational injustice associated to these technogenes, focused in the Amazon of the Anthropocene under the umbrella of globalization. The general outline, related to the procedures adopted for the data collect and proposition on the classification methodology, was divides in the following steps: (i) bibliographic research about: existing classifications fot the technogenes; classifications on anthropic soils, technosoils, urban soils and anthroposols; applied works; and interpretation methods utilised to analyse the technogenes; (ii) from the first step, indication of conceptual base and proposition of method for the socioenvironmental of these technogenes; (iii) gathering of images and field study (data collecting and method testing). The presented results by this research are: 1) a method for the socioenvironmental classification of the technogenes, associating them to the risk and capacity of environmental support; and 2) reflections on the challenges and paths for the Amazon of the Anthropocene: with what tools would be possible to revert de socioenvironmental impacts already caused? Keywords: Socio-environmental classification of technogenic units. Amazon of the Anthropocene. Environmental risk. Environmental injustice.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
