Purpose for the program T he purpose of the Early-Induction Unit (EIU) is to improve efficiency by decompressing the use of labor suite rooms, to create a more conducive environment for women in early labor, and to improve the patient experience by reducing wait times and delays. Implications for nursing practiceImplication for nursing practice include the ability to be a member on a team that is creating a unique and innovative approach to solve efficiency opportunities and improve the patient experience. In addition, nurses are able to expand their expertise by learning new approaches to early-labor management.
