Introduction. Functioning of the medical rescue team one year before the pandemic was compared to the two years of the pandemic outbreak in relation to specific intervention groups. Our observation focused on patients with oncological diseases.Material and methods. The analysis was carried out in a county (powiat) in the Lubelskie Voivodeship (Province). The study included a 3-year retrospective analysis from March 2019 to the end of February 2022. The material consisted of departure order flow sheets and ambulance flow sheet records.Results. In the 3-year period, 560 events met the criteria for inclusion in the analysis: 195 (period I), 165 (period II), and 200 (period III). By eliminating interventions that were repeated calls to the same patient, the population under study consisted of 510 people: 215 men and 295 women.Conclusions. The COVID-19 pandemic did not have a significant impact on the number of MRT interventions among cancer patients, nor on the mean intervention time in patients diagnosed with ICD-10 CXX and DXX.EMSs participate in oncological calls only for symptomatic treatment (pain, dyspnea, diarrhea) and cannot stop or cure initial medical conditions.
Fibrosarcoma is a relatively rapidly growing, poorly delineated spindle cell tumour. It has generally good prognosis and rarely metastasizes. Soft tissue sarcomas account for less than 1% of all malignancies in adults. High rates of sarcomas are, for example, seen in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex. This paper presents the case of a patient with knee joint destruction caused by a fibrosarcoma, on account of which an emergency medical team was summoned several times. We present data from three medical rescue team interventions to a patient with a tumour in the left lower leg. The data was obtained from the documentation generated during the interventions: dispatch order record (DOR) and medical emergency treatment report (METR). The patient had a history of the following chronic diseases (ICD-10): E11.8, I50.9, I10, and M15. Two interventions involved patient transportation to a hospital, whereas the third intervention was completed in the patient's home. The fibrosarcoma caused only slight pain. Frequent bleeding from an open cancerous wound was the main problem in this patient. Difficulty in wound healing could have been related to complications of diabetes mellitus and the patients advanced age.
Background. Analysis of the activities of educational rooms in the State Fire Service, taking into account the distribution and accessibility in relation to the number of inhabitants of voivodeships and the number of primary school students.
Matherial and methods. A two-year analysis (years 2020-2021) comprised the functioning of Ognik educational rooms which were created in the State Fire Service (SFS) organizational units. The data pertinent to the number of rooms in Poland, participants trained, both minor and adult acting as tutors of the respective groups, dates of opening of a specific room, and address were taken from the website: http//www.gov.pl ›web›kgpsp›wykaz-sal-edukacyjnych
Results. The organizational structure of the State Fire Service in Poland is 335 poviat headquarters (PH) and municipal headquarters (MH). There are 105 educational rooms in these entities, as of January 19, 2022. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (2020-2021) 63,892 people (schoolchildren and adults who look after the groups) were trained in educational rooms at the State Fire Service. This result could be better if it were not for the epidemic restrictions on schools (remote learning, which was not possible in interactive educational rooms)
Conclusions. The educational rooms in the SFS constitute a valuable tool for teaching the safety rules among school youth. The SARS-CoV-2 epidemic has influenced the number of persons trained; during the subsequent epidemic waves, in the educational rooms were held no training courses.
Introduction: After each weather front with gales all over Poland, firemen have to perform a few hundred or so interventions. The life of persons covered by a specialistic treatment -home mechanical ventilation HMV -depends upon stable supplies of electricity. In case of breakdowns, indispensable aid is given by firemen who deliver generating sets available in Rescue and Firefighting Units (RFU).Aim of the study: Analysis and a statistical presentation of interventions of fire protection units to support the correct operation of home medical machines in case of temporary power failure.
