One of the key factors affecting the growth of e-commerce is the lack of Internet users' confidence in online information privacy. Despite the importance of understanding the nature of the Internet users' concerns for information privacy, this topic is considered by many to be in the nascent stage. To fill the gap in the literature, this study examines the influence of demographic factors on Internet users' concerns for information privacy. Based on an empirical survey of 199 Internet users it was found that certain demographic factors, namely age, education and income level influence Internet users' concerns for information privacy. Others factors such as gender and Internet experience were found to have no influence. The implications of these and other findings are discussed.
This text is an analysis of the inequalities and determinants of the level of "civic" social capital in Poland. It focuses on forms of social capital tied to the participation of individuals in formalized, horizontal structures of the Polish public sphere. They correspond to a kind of "bridging" capital, that is, one that integrates different social groups. The text demonstrates that the state of civic social capital in Poland is shaped not only by education, income, age, and profession but also by factors resulting from uniquely Polish conditions and institutional legacies, namely, strong ties to the Catholic Church and bonds with family and friends. Many studies conducted over the past decade point to the difficulty of producing social capital in postcommunist countries undergoing transformation. This problem has been addressed by researchers 65
Abstract. The paper presents a category theoretical approach to the notion of duality of convex bodies. Using results of I. Barany (Acta Sci. Math. (Szeged) 52 (1988), 93-100), we define and study metric duality ®, whose advantage is that congruent convex bodies have congruent duals.Mathematics Subject Classifications (1991): 52A20, 52A99, 18B99.
