One of the vast evolution of wireless technology is WiMAX technology. The frequency band of WiMAX in Indonesia is 2.3 GHz (2.3-2.4 GHz) and 3.3 GHz (3.3-3.4 GHz). Antenna is one of the most important component in wireless communication. Due to the presence of two frequency bands of WiMAX used in Indonesia, there is a need to develop an antenna that can operate in both frequencies. This paper discusses the design of coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed octagon shaped microstrip antenna. The antenna microstrip design uses FR4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.6. The antenna dimension is 30 mm x 45 mm. From the simulation results, it can be seen that the antenna design proposed by the author has a wide bandwidth that includes frequency band of 2.3 GHz and 3.3 GHz. The antenna gain falls between 1.8 -2 dBi with omnidirectional radiation pattern.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
