This article describes briefly the theories of metacognition and the impacts of metacognitive skills on learning. The differences between cognitive strategy and metacognitive strategy were mentioned. Some strategies to improve students’ meta cognition skills in the classroom explored as well. Based on the theories, two models of metacognitive strategies instruction for deeply understanding in reading textbook and for finding a solution of words physics problem solving were developed. These models will enable students to be independent and strategic learners.

This research examined the effect of teaching method and lecture program on student satisfaction rate and academic achievement of physics education department of Education and Teacher Training (FKIP) of Tanjungpura University, Pontianak. The descriptive method with the causal-comparative study was employed in this research. The sample was (232) respondents of fifth semester in academic year 2016/2017 which drawn by using unproportioned stratified random sampling technique. A questionnaire of lecturer academic service satisfaction was administered. Based on data analysis, the findings of this research are: (1) There is a significant difference of student's satisfaction rate with lecturers’ academic service (t = 5.455, p ‹ 0.05) and academic achievement (t = 4.149, p ‹ 0.05) in terms of lecture method and direct instruction model. The students who having received direct instruction show higher on statisfaction rate and academic achevement than who having received lecture method; (2) There is a significant main effect of the lecture program on the rate of student satisfaction (F= 30.346, p ‹ 0.05) and on students academic achievement (F= 15.646, p ‹ 0.05); (3) There is no significant interaction effect of the teaching method and lecture program on student satisfaction rate (F= 0.753, p › 0.05) and academic achievement (F= 0.326, p › 0.05). It recommends that an institution should undertake internal survey to explore student satisfaction with academic services periodically.

Digital citizenship has become a priority in education almost all over the world. This study aims to explore the level of perception of prospective teacher students regarding digital citizenship and analyze differences in the level of perception of digital citizenship in terms of gender, educational background, and various regional geographical characteristics. This research applies descriptive method with survey-explorative study. A total of 345 student teacher candidates in the sixth semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year at Westkalimantan of Educational Personnel Education Institute (LPTK) were involved as samples. To explore the level of perceptions of digital citizenship of prospective teachers, this study adopted a questionnaire of Likert scale. Based on data analysis, it was found; (1) the perception profile of students (prospective teachers) about digital citizenship is quite varied; (2) there is no significant difference in the level of perceptions between female and male students; (3) there are significant differences in the level of student perception in terms of various educational backgrounds and geographical conditions from the area where they live. Prospective teachers need to be trained on the knowledge, skills, and values of digital citizenship before they provide learning services in schools.
Analogy is considered a helpful way to help students visualize abstract concepts and assimilate new knowledge to an existing structure of cognitive. This study examines the effectiveness of the teaching with pictorial analogy models on students’ achievement and its retention of Direct Current lesson. A quasi-experimental method with one group pretest and (immediate and delayed) posttest design was employed in this study. The subjects consisted of 35 twelfth-grade students of public senior school in Pontianak City enrolled in the first semester of academic year 2017/2018; they were determined by using intact group random sampling technique. The student participants received instructions of the three pictorial analogy models. A parallel pretest-posttest of achievement test consisted of 10 items of factual knowledge, 10 items of conceptual knowledge, and 3 items of procedural knowledge. The operationalization of the pictorial analogies in this study referred to Glynn’s syntaxes. Data analysis found that: (1) the increasing of factual knowledge is 30.2 % in immediate posttest and 21.6 % in delayed posttest; (2)the students have promoted a significant conceptual change ( = 54.28, p < 0.05); and (3) there is a significant difference between the immediate posttest and pretest in terms of procedural knowledge (t = 4.02; p < 0.05) with the ES index is 4.78. It is concluded that the use of pictorial analogy models is effective (in high category) to increase students’ achievement of Direct Current lesson and the emergence of their retention is significant partially and simultaneously. In using pictorial analogies, teachers are encouraged to consider many similar features with the target concepts.
