To become resilient to emergencies where electric supply systems could be damaged for long period of time after a disaster, we need appropriate lighting standards for sustainable business activities which require less energy consumption. We proposed a virtual reality simulation system which can provide real visual environment to observers. Using this system, we examined the minimum focal lighting environment required for office workers to continue working for 3 to 10 days during emergency aftermaths. The result showed that this can be as small as 75 lux on working surface when appropriate ambient lighting is provided to keep comfortable room brightness.
