Hydrogel coating on the surface of ureteral stents does not prevent or reduce bacterial adhesion. However, after antibiotic treatment, stents exhibit antibacterial activity in the local environment at greater intensity and for a longer time, depending on the bacterium-antibiotic combination.
We observed disappointing results with small intestinal submucosa for Peyronie's disease surgery with a high percent of recurrent curvature. Further studies are needed to determine if 1 or 4-ply small intestinal submucosa is an ideal graft material for the tunica albuginea.
