Inorganic–organic hybrid sorbents were synthesized by grafting porous zirconia with a series of aminomethylenephosphonate ligands. Sorbents with a larger number of phosphonate groups showed higher selectivity for intra-lanthanide separation.
Hydrous ZrO2 materials showed high potential for the selective adsorption of IO3− in the presence of competing anions. The main adsorption mechanism was found to be ion-exchange and efficient regeneration was demonstrated with dilute acid.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations –citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
