Insertions/deletions (InDels) are a variety of polymorphisms that are observed with deletion or insertion or both, and are common in both somatic and gonosomal chromosomes. Since these loci have short amplicon lengths and have a high discrimination power when they are studied with 20-30 loci multiplexes, they are now being used as an alternative STR loci in forensic identification. In forensic sciences, sex chromosomes can be used according to the type and variety of the case. While the paternal kinship, and the relationship between father and son can be determined by using Y chromosome polymorphism, the relationship between father and daughter can be determined by the use of X chromosome polymorphism (
