Modulation and deflection of light by lattices of parallel stripe domains in epitaxial garnet films is investigated. If the resonance oscillation of the domain lattice is excited by rf fields, the deflected light is modulated at the resonance frequency which can be tuned by external bias fields to more than 2 GHz. This is the highest frequency of an oscillating domain lattice reported thus far. Modulation frequencies and wall oscillation amplitudes are determined experimentally. Calculated resonance frequencies are in agreement with observation if the quality factor of the film is greater than one.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
