2-Naphthyl)-2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)ethanone (MPY) was synthesized as a photoinitiator for free radical polymerization and the structure was characterized by spectral analysis. MPY has ability to initiate the polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer in air upon irradiation. Absorption and fluorescence properties of this initiator are investigated and the singlet excited-state energy value calculated in dichloromethane. According to the results, MPY acts as a type 2 photoinitiator.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
