Reading comprehension is still considered as a part of new literacy required to encounter the Industry 4.0. Reading comprehension in this era is related to reading the data presented in technology. In addition to students’ ability to understand readings, students sort positive and negative information in a reading through reading comprehension. Students can also get used to utilize the internet access to read various information and stories. Therefore, the presence of the Industry 4.0 is considered to not have negative effects on students. This research focuses on examining the online magazine-based reading workshop model towards the improvement of fourth grade students’ reading comprehension skills. The research employed quasi experiment methods with a nonequivalent group design. The research sample was selected purposively from fourth grade students in primary schools in Cimahi City. The data were collected using the test of reading comprehension skills and were analyzed using inferential statistics with the assistance of the SPSS 21.0 program. Through this research, the researchers are expected that the online magazine-based reading workshop model has an effect on the improvement of the fourth-grade students’ reading comprehension skills.
One aspect of environmental literacy is that there is an action from someone who is trying to reduce environmental pollution. For primary school students, this effort can be done by processing dry waste into useful items. Processed garbage can be made into scraps that sell for sale or just simple handicrafts. This research was aimed at developing environmental literacy through the use of scraps in primary schools. The research employed a quantitative approach with quasy experimental method. The sample of the research was fifth grade primary school students who were randomly selected. Then the data collection techniques were conducted with the cognitive tests, practice, and attitude questionnaires. Meanwhile, data analysis process employed the inference statistics. The results showed that the activity of utilizing scrap affected the environmental literacy of the students. The aspect that experienced a quite good change was the performance aspect in the form of carrying out used scrap activities. Therefore, the use of scraps could be an effort to build the environmental literacy of primary school students.
AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS melalui model TPS di kelas IV sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Prosedur penelitian terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu 22 siswa kelas empat di SD 20 Kalumbuk, Padang. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes dan observasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis tematik. Validitas data dalam penelitian menggunakan triangulasi, member checking, refleksivitas peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar IPS dari 76,75% ke 89,67% (sangat baik). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think, Pair, Share (TPS) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS di kelas IV sekolah dasar. This research is classroom action research. The procedure of this research conducted planning, acting, observation, and reflection. Subject of this research was 22 students for the fourth grade in SD 20 Kalumbuk, Padang. Techniques of collecting data were using test and observation. Data analyzed by using thematic analysis. Data validated by using triangulation, member checking, and reflecivity. The students' learning outcomes improved from 76,75% into 89,67% (very good). The result of this research shows that cooperative model of TPS type can improve social science outcomes for the fourth grade students of elementary school.
