We present the gas-tight NiO/54 wt% δ-Bi 2 O 3 ceramic composite, which could be used as ion transport membrane for oxygen separation from air. The composite includes electron-conducting NiO and ion-conducting δ-Bi 2 O 3 . Ambipolar conductivity of ionic and electronic charge carriers in an oxygen electrochemical potential gradient ensured the high oxygen permeation flux through the composite at 1,008-1,073 K. In situ Bi 2 O 3 melt crystallization method was used to form the gas-tight δ-Bi 2 O 3 -containing ceramic composite.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
