One of the important problems of the economic development of Ukraine today is the low energy efficiency of social production with a high level of external energy dependence. The purpose of the study is to define modern global challenges, and, with account of them, to outline the prospects for the structural development of the electric energy industry in Ukraine. The current vision of the prospects for the energy development of the world economy is analyzed on the basis of the results of foresight forecasts, accomplished by the leading international institutions and energy companies. The content of the global energy transition and its main directions in the electric energy sector is analyzed. It is determined that along with the paradigm of the global energy transition, considerable attention is paid to the development of environmentally friendly generation methods, which primarily include electric energy generation based on renewable energy sources (RES). The aggregate of power generation technologies is divided into two types according to two common features of resources: 1 – power generation technologies, which are based on the process of converting organic and nuclear fuel into electric energy; 2 – power generation technologies, which are based on the processes of converting energy of inexhaustible and renewable energy sources (except biological) into electric energy. A methodology for calculating and comparing the resource characteristics of power generation technologies is developed; resource intensity is computed; the costs of electric energy production using power generation technologies are provided; a comparative comprehensive (technical-economic) assessment of the efficiency of technologies based on the use of the matrix method is presented. Based on the carried out analysis, an overall rating of the efficiency of power generation technologies is compiled. Technologies expedient for use in Ukraine have been identified. It is proved that the priority measures for the structural-technological modernization of the energy complex of Ukraine should be the implementation of development directions consistent with the provisions of the paradigm of the global energy transition, namely: the creation of a new generation power grid management system (smart grids); development of distributed energy.
Theoretical provisions and practical recommendations for identifying the determinants of woodworking industry development in Ukraine in the postwar period make up the subject of the study. The existing research papers indexed by scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science on maintaining the competitiveness of the woodworking industry in Ukraine have been systematized and generalized. The research results in deepening the theoretical basis for identifying the basic meaningful determinants of competitiveness of the woodworking industry in various countries grounded on using bibliometric analysis tools (by means of VOSviewer v.1.6.10). Four contextual research clusters on the competitiveness of the woodworking industry, which include the largest number of publications, are identified. An integrated assessment is made of competitiveness shown by certain types of economic activity carried out by the woodworking industry in Ukraine and the world. The main measures of state support aimed at maintaining the work of Ukraine’s industrial sector during the war are presented. The following problems in organizing the activity of the woodworking enterprises in wartime are defined: lack of qualified personnel; loss of logistics infrastructure, supply chains, and sales in the regions where active hostilities took place; limited access to raw materials for enterprises located in less forested regions of Ukraine; loss of customer base; limited supply of fuels and lubricants, spare parts, equipment of enterprises in the Central, Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine; reduction of business activity in some regions of Ukraine, etc. Drivers of maintaining the competitiveness of Ukraine’s woodworking industry in the postwar period have been formed.
The article is aimed at carrying out an integral assessment of educational, scientific and innovative activities in Ukraine and researching their influence on the economic development of the country in dynamics. Research methods are: logical, statistical, correlation, graphical analysis, matrix method, T. Saati’s method of analyzing hierarchies, comparison. The article proposes a methodical approach to the integral assessment of educational, scientific and innovative activities, which includes: standardization of indicators, determination of weight coefficients of each of the indicators, and calculation of integral indicators according to individual elements of the chain «training of bachelors – training of masters – training of scientific personnel – scientific potential – scientific results – innovative activity – economic development», as well as calculation of the degree of their mutual impact. The integral indicators that characterize educational, scientific and innovative activities are calculated; the impact of training is assessed as follows: bachelors on the preparation of masters; masters on the training of scientific personnel; scientific personnel – on scientific potential; scientific potential – on scientific results; scientific results – on innovative activity; innovative activity – on the economic state of the country. The dynamics of changes in the provision of these activities is examined. The calculations made it possible to determine tendencies in the development of education and science in Ukraine and the main problems to cause them. One of the significant problems is the inconsistency of the chain between educational, scientific and innovative activities and the real sector of the economy, which has led to a decrease in the scientific and scientific-technical potential of Ukraine, low scientific results and low rates of innovative development. It is defined that further inappropriate attention to these problems on the part of the authorities can lead to the complete destruction of both educational, scientific and innovative activities in the country. All this accounts for the need to develop a clear vision of the directions of development of the domestic educational and scientific spheres, which will take into account both the real opportunities of the domestic economy and global development trends along with global challenges.

Gartner’s predictions on the development of artificial intelligence technologies are analyzed and it is defined that the influence of deep learning methods, neuromorphic computing that simulate the neural structure and work of the human brain, competitive machine learning methods, analytics methods known as «small data» and «broad data» will increase in the future. The article analyzes the report «Science & Technology Trends 2020-2040» by the NATO Science and Technology Organization, substantiating the importance of using artificial intelligence to develop military capabilities, form strategic priorities in the sphere of weapons development and political decision-making. It is determined that the formation and development of military potential is expected to experience an increased impact of embedded artificial intelligence in the nuclear, aerospace, cybernetic technologies, technologies for the development of new materials and biotechnology; virtual/augmented reality; quantum computing; research of materials, etc. The authors determine possible directions of use of artificial intelligence in such areas as: C4ISR, weapons and their effective use, UxV, capability planning, CBRN, military medicine, logistics, cyber and information space, etc. The advantages of the use of artificial intelligence for the development of the defense capability of the world countries and significant threats that require further research of technologies and methods of artificial intelligence along with directions of their practical use in the sphere of defense and protection are identified.
The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) increases its impact on all spheres of socioeconomic activity, stimulates innovative development and contributes to the creation of new jobs. The purpose of this publication is to study the development of the ICT sphere in Ukraine according to international indices and rankings, and to determine the prospects for its development. The methodological basis of the article contains: review of international indices and rankings in the ICT sphere, graphic and statistical analysis. The most significant international rankings and indices that characterize the level of development of the IT sphere in the countries of the world are considered. Conventionally, they were divided into early indices that reflected the level of development of ICT countries in the world in general, and modern indices that largely reflect the development of certain directions of the IT sphere of the countries of the world. Early indices such as Infostate (Orbicom) and ICTOI include information on providing consumers with traditional communication technologies, while ICTDI, DOI already take into account the impact of using more recent communication technologies, i.e., the Internet. All early indices measuring the level of development of ICT of the countries of the world characterize the state of infrastructure development, use of and skills required by ICT in Ukraine as an average that should be improved. Among the modern indices, the structure of indices and the dynamics of values are considered on the example of Ukraine according to: Network Readiness Index (NRI); Global Communication Index (GCI); Inclusive Internet Index (3I-index); IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking (WDCR); Global Cybersecurity Index (GCsI); National CyberSecurity Index (NCSI); Global Innovation Index (GII); Global Knowledge Index (GKI). Most of the analyzed international rankings and indices demonstrate the strengthening of Ukraine’s position in the world ICT market in the pre-war years. With significant potential in the ICT sphere along with supporting its growth, we can hope for its rapid recovery and further development.
