Note. Significance of differences: lp<0.01, 2p<0.001 (compared with the control); 3p<0.01, 4p<0.001 (compared with the antagonist); Sp<0.05, ~p<0.01, 7p<0.001 (compared with clonidine).
Neuroprotective effects of GABA(B) agonist baclofen and GABA(A) agonists THIP and muscimol are completely additive. GABAA and GABA(B) receptor antagonists block the neuroprotective effects of the corresponding agonists without cross-blocking. In fact, the blockade of combined effect of two agonists with selective GABA(A) and GABAB antagonists separately and in combination is not below the estimated value. Therefore, GABA(A) and GABA(B) receptor mechanisms of the neuroprotective effects independently and separately contribute to the improvement of brain resistance to global ischemia.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
