The study of the inherited features of the genotype and the directions of variability of breeding-valuable traits of strawberry varieties and hybrid forms is an integral part of most researches in the field of this crop breeding. The purpose of this work was to determine the most promising strawberry varieties and hybrid selections by a complex of economically significant characteristics based on the assessment of their selection and genetic potential. In the period 2018–2020, 7 varieties and 17 inter-variety hybrids of strawberry were studied. Using methods of multivariate mathematical statistics, including calculation of factor contributions, estimation of principal components, and cluster analysis of the hierarchical algorithm using the Ward method, the variability of strawberry genotypes in terms of crop structure and quality was estimated. It is shown that variety genotype makes a decisive contribution to the variability of the studied forms. The model of the ideal variety was used as a comparative criterion for promising varieties and hybrid selections. As a result of clustering and combining the studied forms in the intervals of Euclidean distances, a high assessment was made for the selection and genetic potential of strawberry varieties Onda, Belrubi, Florence and Nelli, as well as hybrid forms with their participation.
The genotypical potential of strawberry varieties is the basis for the implementation of economically valuable crop indicators in specific growing conditions. Assessment of the variability of productivity traits and quality of berries is one of the key directions in many modern studies on the selection and variety study of garden strawberries. The goal of this work was to assess strawberry varieties by a complex of characteristics of the yield structure and fruit quality, taking into account their genotypic characteristics, as well as to identify of their hereditary potential in regional cultivation conditions. The analysis of long-term data on 17 varieties of strawberries has been carried out. Using the methods of two-way analysis of variance, contributions of the principal components and Ward’s cluster analysis, an assessment was made of the variability of the taken into account traits in strawberry varieties. Combining the studied varieties into groups made it possible to identify the best forms by the valuable traits. A high responsiveness to the cultivation conditions in the Krasnodar region was established for the varieties Nelli, Alba, Florence, Elegia, Honeoye, Onda and Vima Xima in accordance with their genotypic potential.
The profitability of strawberry cultivation is largely determined by the capacity and quality of the yield, depended on the features of the variety genotype. The aim of this work was to estimate the yield stability of varieties and hybrids by the methods of multivariate statistical analysis and identify the best genotypes. To solve this problem, we have used the two-factor analysis of variance and hierarchical cluster analysis according to the Ward’s method as well as the integral estimate of the differences between the values of yield. The results of the studies have shown that the genotype of the variety (hybrid) are makes a decisive factor of influence for variability of the yield structure signs from 17,1% (number of inflorescences) to 32,2% (number of berries). The «genotype × environment» interaction is comparable with the genotype influence, the share of influence of the year conditions of the year is insignificant. Cluster analysis according to complex of economic valuable signs allows us to identify the eight forms that the most adapted to the conditions of the Krasnodar Territory as 13-1-15, Florence, Roxana, 18-1-15, Asia, Onda, Kemia, Nelli from which the Roxana, Florence, 18-1-15, 13-1-15 have a high and steadily rising biological yield.
