The Li,SiO,, Li,SiO, and LiAIO, ceramics are proposed to be used in the blankets of a fusion reactor for the tritium breeding.Irradiation Ceramic tablets manufactured of this materials were irradiated in a nuclear reactor with thennal neutron flux about 5*10"s-' cm-' up to the fluences 7*10'y-1.4*102' cm-* in the range.Geometrical parameters, density and compression strength value of the tablets were studied in the experiments, along with the gas emission out of the ceramics. The results of study show the ability these materials to be used under irradiation by thermal neutrons up to the fluences above 1.4*102' cm-' and under burning-out of more than 2.5% of lithium. They may be considered as possible materials for blankets of fusion reactors.
A concept of tritium-breeding monitoring in the DEMO reactor is discussed. A system for experimental estimation of the tritium-breeding ratio and the tritium-breeding dynamics in a helium-cooled experimental breeding submodule (EBSM) of the International Thermonuclear Expeimental Reactor is proposed. A schematic diagram of the EBSM system and the design of its units are considered. Operation of the system in different modes is discussed. A pneumatic method is proposed to deliver the detectors to the tritium-breeding zone of the EBSM and to extract the detectors by using tritiumbreeding channels. The channels are connected to the EBSM and to an operating zone. The results of the channel-cooling calculation carried out under nominal operating conditions of the EBSM (a plasma pulse) and the calculation of parameters of tritium detector transportation are presented in the paper.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
