Translated from Gidrotekhnicheskoe Stroitel 'stvo, No. 9, September 2011, pp. 47 -54. The B. E. Vedeneev All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering (VNIIG im. B. E. Vedeneeva) has developed and carried out scientific-technical accompaniment for the construction of cast bituminous-concrete diaphragms of earthen dams. Experience gained with analysis of their stress-strain state is cited. Prospects for use of cast bituminous-concrete diaphragms are indicated for the rock-fill dam at the Kankunsk HPP and earthen dams of Siberia, the Far East, and the Extreme North.
Prediction of the consequences of man's influence, to which, among other things, it is possible to classify a disturbance in the water regime of areas where large-scale industrial entities are placed in service, is extremely urgent at the present time. The mathematical modeling of hydrogeological conditions using modern algorithms and software plays a significant role in the assessment of change in the seepage regime. The B. E. Vedeneev All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering has developed a procedure for solving the seepage problem of beds consisting of subhorizontal water-bearing and slightly permeable layers. The algoritlma for the problem's solution by the finite-element method is implemented in the software package "DISK."The procedure developed has come into practical use in assessing the change in the hydrogeological situation at the industrial site of the Novo-Voronezh nuclear power plant as a result of the introduction of its second stage (NVNPP-2). Determination of the ground-water table under the new conditions, was a problem requiring investigation, and the question concerning the suffosion stability of a separate clay layer was also addressed.Prediction of the change in the hydrological situation at the industrial site of the NVNPP and adjacent lands consisted in the following:-geologic-engineering schematization of the bed; -development of a seepage model for the bed and identification of its parameters from data acquired by field measurements; and, -execution of forecast calculations and their analysis.
Method of the wrist joint «folk» reconstruction using microsurgical grafting of 2 nd metatarsal bone has been suggested for the reconstruction of distal forearm in children with malformation or absence of the radius and talipomanus which has developed as a result of the abovementioned pathology. The graft includes the growth zone and this prevents the deformity recurrence.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
