The application of statins in cardiology aimed at reduction of the risk of cardiovascular problems has noticeably increased over the last years. In this regard, it has been assumed that statins can be effective in the primary and secondary prevention of cerebral infarction and transient ischemic attack. The recent studies have provided contradictory data on the issue, which reduces the assignability of this group of drugs by neurologists. This review covers the characteristic features of statins in angioneurology.
Pain syndrome is one of the main clinical manifestations of degenerative disease of the lumbar spine. The severity of pain depends on the degree of compression of spinal roots of the intervertebral disc herniation, osteophytes or hypertrophied yellow ligament. The article presents the comparison of the evaluation results of radicular pain when using different scales of pain.
Objective: to systematize data on anatomical and morphological characteristics of ligaments associated with the sacroiliac joint. Material of the study. Publications containing information on the anatomical and morphological characteristics of the ligaments associated with the sacroiliac joint found in the PubMed resources and the information portal eLIBRARY.RU. Results. We singled out the most important anatomical and morphological features of the ligaments associated with the sacroiliac joint that are relevant in the diagnosis of the causes of lower back pain. Conclusion. To clarify the extent of the relation of the changes occurring in the ligaments associated with the sacroiliac joint to the lower back pain it is advisable to carry on the study on their nature.
Objective: to evaluate the interrelations of the body mass index with data that characterize severity of dystrophic changes of long dorsal sacroiliac and iliolumbar ligaments. Subject of research. Long dorsal sacroiliac and iliolumbar ligaments from 50 corpses (aged 25 to 83): 33 males (the average age was 63 ± 9) and 17 females (the average age was 63 ± 9.8). Results. The interconnection of the parameter characterizing the evidence of the dystrophic changes of lumbar-iliac and posterior iliac ligaments long with the body mass index has been determined. Conclusion. A statistically significant (moderate and high) correlation between the body mass index and the evidence of the dystrophic changes of lumbar-iliac and rear long iliac ligaments is found only when the value of the index exceeds the level of 30.
To analyse vegetative status in cerebral ischemic lesions, 439 patients aged from 48 to 74 have been examined. As a result it has been shown that vagotonia with normal reactivity is prevalent in persons with brain infarction irrespective of severity of neurological deficiency, and sympathicotomy, being the most evident in case there are no focal symptoms of cerebral tissue lesions, is characteristic for the passing forms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
