This paper describes a study currently underway that will serve to quantify and contrast the costs and benefits of stormwater infrastructure improvements on new and redevelopment sites using both conventional and low impact development (LID) techniques. This project considers four climate regions, three development patterns, two soil types, and two runoff computational methodologies. Life cycle costs are calculated and the range of social and environmental benefits quantified and monetized for each scenario. The current study methodology, and one draft example from the study -a high-density mixed use template in Albany, New York -is presented in this paper.
