values of 3.6%, 2.9%, and 2.6%, respectively. (See stars in Fig. 2). Conclusion: This analysis revealed a great diversity of combinations of post-LVAD AEs. The most common basket of concomitant events {Bleeding, Other SAE} was only 10% of the 8,603 total baskets (855 count). Unfortunately, Other SAE is very common in the INTERMACS database and not very informative to clinicians. The most common basket that did not include Other SAE, was {Bleeding, Infection} which comprised 5% of the total baskets.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a highly contagious pathogen, led to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Ocular secretions can be one of the possible causes of SARS-CoV-2 transmission, and it should not be ignored. In the group of severe COVID-19 complications, ocular manifestations are underreported, and elucidation of ocular signs among COVID-19 patients is necessary. According to many research studies, conjunctivitis and sore eyes were the most reported ocular symptoms. Many studies have limitations such as low sample size or lack of proper findings, and much more studies need to be performed for a better inference.
Mal de Meleda (MDM) is a rare sub-type of palmoplantar keratoderma (PPK) disease. The primary symptoms of PPK are scleroatrophy, transient keratoderma, scleroatrophic erythema, pseudoainhum around the digits, and perioral erythema. MDM is a pathology with a difficult clinical course. This case study presents two cases of MDM in siblings born out of second-degree consanguinity. The presenting complaint was the peeling of the palmar skin since birth. Both patients were treated with acitretin orally (dose: 10 mg) for three months and tretinoin (topical) for two months. The prognosis was good after three months of treatment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
