Polyamide 11 (PA 11)/polyamide 12 (PA 12) blends with and without liquid polybutadiene (LB) containing isocyanate end groups (LBD) were prepared in the Brabender plastograph. The rubber was added in order to increase the impact strength of the polyamides. Tensile strength and elongation at the upper yield point and hardness were also measured. Thermal properties were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to determine functional groups of polyamides and to reveal possible reactions between the polyamides and LBD. Intrinsic viscosity, measured by an Ubbelohde viscometer, was used to calculate molar mass. The LB has been found as a useful modifier of impact strength.
Possibilities of polyamide 12 with poly(vinyl chloride) blends recycling Summary-Blends of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and polyamide 12 (PA 12) were prepared by melt mixing technique in Brabender Plastograph. The samples have been studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Charpy impact strength was tested. PVC/PA 12 blends were compatibilized with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) and investigeted using the same methods. It was shown that such compatibilization is one of the possibilities how to get desired properties starting from brittle and immiscible PVC/PA 12 blends. Otrzymane próbki badano metodami skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej (SEM) (rys. 2), dynamicznej analizy mechanicznej (DMA) (rys. 3, tabela 1), skaningowej kalorymetrii ró¿nicowej (DSC) (tabela 1) oraz wyznaczono udarnooeae metod¹ Charpy'ego (rys. 1). Za pomoc¹ tych samych metod zbadano zdolnooeae mieszanek PVC/PA 12 do kompatybilizacji za pomoc¹ chlorowanego polietylenu (CPE) (rys. 4-17). Otrzymane wyniki potwierdzi³y mo¿liwooeci uzyskania z kruchych i niemieszalnych uk³adów PVC/PA 12 mieszanek o po¿¹danych w³aoeciwooeciach.
