The transition from 20th‐century fossil‐fuel consumption and pollution to green, carbon‐negative cities is aided not just by biophilic design, but also by digital techniques. Vicente Guallart, former Chief Architect of Barcelona and founder of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and Fab Lab Barcelona, illustrates this new natural/digital urban synthesis with his own practice's competition‐ winning design for a green district, Xianmihu, in Shenzhen, China.
