El propósito del artículo es conocer, a través de la normativa, cómo se vincula el sector turístico con la protección del patrimonio paleontológico, en un área natural protegida. El caso de apoyo es el Parque Natural Geológico Sanagasta, La Rioja, República Argentina. Tres variables fueron analizadas en la legislación: control, fomento y sanción sobre patrimonio, ambiente y turismo. Entre los resultados se obtuvo: el sector científico expuso el hallazgo y propuso la creación legal del área protegida; posteriormente, el sector turístico fomenta su desarrollo en torno al patrimonio paleontológico, creando el Parque de Dinosaurios Sanagasta, dentro la unidad; existe escaso control de los órganos con competencia en área; constan numerosas políticas de fomento del sector turístico provincial y nacional, no así de protección in situ del patrimonio para el parque. Finalmente, se proponen acciones de participación del sector turístico para el mismo.
This article presents the results of a retrospective analysis of the conservation of paleontological heritage and tourist activity in order to investigate the tourism planning process in protected natural areas in the province of La Rioja, Argentina. Likewise, the protection of paleontological heritage within protected natural areas is addressed, from the legal-administrative point of view, understanding that for the territorial ordering of tourism to result in an integrated manner, it is necessary to coordinate all legislative areas with competence in the theme. An analytical and critical perspective was used through a bibliographic review, and analysis of secondary sources such as regulations, plans, programs and projects, referring to tourism, conservation and paleontological heritage.
